Management Development (In the outdoors) Model
Making full use of action centred learning tasks, exercises or projects the pattern of action centred learning programmes use the experiential learning model of a 'theoretical' input followed by a 'practical' task which is then 'reviewed' and 'reflected' on not only provides a powerful learning tool but has been shown to be of immediate benefit back in the work place. This is modelled below:

Each individual will have to apply themselves, usually under pressure, to a range of problem solving and decision making situations, which although quite different from work, are nevertheless challenging and realistic. Planning for and managing an action centred learning project or situation, or leading a group in action centred learning activities, is a parallel of the work place - full of unpredictable events that require thought, decisions, people, resources and time. An end result has to be achieved using finite and limited resources, often within work structures which effectively mimic aspects of their own organisation.

Our experiential learning programmes are designed to encourage all participants to go beyond task analysis and completion, by unlocking their creative talents to get a real sense of personal accomplishment. Whilst we challenge individuals and the group we do so without ever putting them into a panic situation - experiential learning is about team building not individual bullying !!

Our action centred learning courses are designed to accept that different people have different aptitudes, needs and abilities and therefore before any activity is selected for use on the programme individual assessments are conducted. Thus, every one is able to participate in action centred learning, irrespective of ability, age, or fitness, as there is always a role for those who can plan, organise and coordinate.

There is more to experiential learning than climbing mountains!

Our experiential learning tutors and instructors are all qualified professionals, with ability to relate the learning from any activity to its relevance to the individual in his/her own job, regardless of level and function. This transfer of understanding can be reinforced in your place of work by using Personal Development Portfolios, work based assignments, mentoring and continuous assessment , by our experiential learning tutors or your own trainers or line managers.

All experiential learning programmes can be supported by elearning

To ensure that your investment in experiential learning delivers maximum organisational benefit we can supplement action centred learning programme with ten support services - please see action centred learning support services.
