When asked how he judged the leadership of his officers Lord Montgomery was reputed to have said, "I ask myself one question, would I follow that man into the desert". The operative word being follow.
However, leadership behaviour is not just a set of ingredients composed of courage, trust, integrity and so on. If it were, it would no doubt have ruled out some of the most influential leaders of our times. Nor is it based purely on an acquired range of technical and interpersonal skills, rather, it is a blend of knowledge and expertise with a capacity to communicate to others in a way that inspires confidence in the way forward. We all have untapped leadership qualities which for many of us often requires a learning experience to awaken latent inner strengths and talents to bring about the confidence to know when to control and when to step back.
Our leadership programmes with emphasis on experiential learning aim to awaken the hidden leader in us all. Participants can test a variety of styles in diverse situations fully secure in the knowledge that they can make mistakes without the fear of recrimination or damage to their career prospects. With feed back and coaching they can consciously develop their skills, review progress and gain confidence for implementing what they have learnt. |
